July’s shop update is a biiig one, and I’ve been excited to finally start making these for a very very long time!

I finally bit the bullet and invested in an HTVRont Manual Heat Press machine. Basically, this machine lets me transfer DTF (direct-to-film) prints of my artwork onto shirts, tote bags, hats, sweaters - any cloth item that can withstand heat, you name it!

I’m so stoked I finally get to share these (and wear these around)! Here’s a little glimpse into how I make them at home:

First we have our blank tee (gildan softstyle! in the coral pink color), ready to go in the heat press. We also have our design on a DTF transfer sheet, cut out from a larger gang sheet, printed courtesy of Ninja Transfers! I’m really enjoying the bold quality of their prints so far!

Printing the shirts is as easy as lining it up flat on the mat, aligning the design (cured adhesive side facing down - it’s white and a little textured, and this is what the actual design is printed on. The film on top is what’s going to be peeled away after the press!)

We set the temperature and adjust the pressure according to Ninja Transfer’s instructions (310 degrees Fahrenheit at medium-high pressure for 15 seconds), wait for it to come to temperature, place a teflon or parchment sheet over the shirt and design, then pull the lever down and let it cook until the timer goes off, and bam!

After a few seconds, we peel away the film (making sure the design is sticking, of course), do one final “finishing” press to really set the design in and give it a matte finish, and we have our final shirt, ready to be worn or packaged for sale!

The shirts themselves are super soft, 100% cotton and preshrunk, so you don’t have to worry about them shrinking in the wash if you follow the care instructions! These shirts HAVE to be washed on cold, preferably on a gentle cycle, and should be allowed to air dry; any sort of heat will warp or disturb the print, so if you HAVE to machine-dry, please use the coldest and gentlest settings possible for the best results!

I truly hope you guys enjoy my new apparel; I can’t tell you how properly stoked I am to be able to make and share these with you, finally! More designs to come in the future, as well as tote bags and sweaters and tanks, eventually!

Here comes a new challenger! The Arcadion is the current endgame raid story for Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail (award winning MMORPG with a free trial up to level 70 including the Stormblood expansion) - featuring some of the best boss designs, music, and gameplay mechanics I’ve seen in a game, though I may just be biased! The cyberpunk professional wrestling monster mash aesthetic is a crazy one, but it’s so up my alley that it hurts.

It’s so cool finally seeing all the fighters together (at least until the next raid tier comes out), and it’s interesting to see how my art has evolved between this newest batch and the first batch!

Much like the first batch, these guys will be available as acrylic charms as well in the same style, but for now, let’s look at the designs in sticker form!

This guy’s a fan favorite among FFXIV players; I mean how could you not love a frog and a bunny and a disco dancer all smashed into one fabulous being? A fabulous being who lives a double life as an overstimulated and burnt out party animal and really just needs a nap, some painkillers, and some quiet time … me too, king.

This kid is off the wall, yo! Our favorite punky street artist (totally not Splatoon-inspired) fighter is a relatable one for artists like myself. I too have had fantasies of painting cute little creatures that come to life to destroy my enemies in a merciless manner- (for legal reasons, this is a joke.)

He’s big, he’s mean, he’ll blow you (to smithereens) - the Brute Bomber stomps into the ring! I went with this version of our beloved Hector since I missed out on designing him in the first batch alongside Black Cat, Honey B. Lovely, and Wicked Thunder. But his relationship with Retsarra, another fighter, is just so sweet… I couldn’t NOT have them together.

Speaking of Retsarra (a.k.a. Howling Blade)…

“Alone in the ring on a friday night?”

This gundam wolf was…. interesting to try and chibi-fy, to say the least. Many details in the robotic body armor had to be cut and simplified for the sake of the chibi, but I do like how it turned out! It’s always a fun time when you have to simplify a very complex 3d design for 2d art, especially when you have to draw many of them (as an animator, trust me-)

I’ll be ordering washi tapes very soon! More designs than the ones shown here are on the way, but consider this a special sneak peek that you guys get to see before anyone else! This is my first ever foray into the washi space, so I’m excited! I’ll only order a limited quantity, so be on the lookout if you wanna grab a roll or a few! They’ll become available in a small August shop update, along with…

Stickers of my t-shirt designs will be available to purchase as well! I always like to offer my designs in multiple forms, especially as stickers, since they’re a lower-ticket item and a more affordable way to support my business and my art!

With all that shop news out of the way, just a few more things before I go…

Upcoming Events…?

While I was waitlisted indefinitely for Anime NYC’s Artist Alley, there’s still a chance that we can nab a table in the Exhibit Hall! Holding out hope, I might have to do some very last minute con prep if we get the spot 🙏

I’ve also applied to co-table at Derpycon’s Artist Alley, but we haven’t heard back from them yet! Yeah, sorry, not much happening in the art market space this year; I’m still trying to figure out how vendors keep track of all the different markets and conventions and application periods, honestly. I’m still trying to build up my catalogue of goodies, so at least my shop looks more impressive with each application I send out!
