Bunnalien News: April 2025 Edition
Happy May 1st, everyone! It's been a while, I know, but there have been plenty of developments and updates since last we met at the end of February! And yes, I'm counting this as the "April" edition since May has barely just begun. Let's get right into it, shall we?
Table of Contents
Shop Update
Chaaaoooo!!
Time to revisit my roots with the babies that I’ve been taking care of since I was a baby myself: the lovable little squishy alien creatures known as Chao!

Handmade sticker sheets, fully designed and drawn by Bunnalien (me) and cut in-house!
April’s shop update (4/30) brings some sticker sheets that I’ve been lovingly working on for weeks, and I’m so excited to see them physically printed and realized so I can share them with you all! (After much trial and error with my Cricut machine, I might add)
Fans of Sonic Adventure 2 will easily recognize these virtual pets and the small animals scattered around the various stages in the game, even some special fruits that you can obtain for your chao. These little guys are hatched from eggs and can gain different attributes, eventually evolving into many shapes and colors depending on their stat spread and alignment! You can breed them together for rare colors, watch them grow old and (hopefully) reincarnate into their next life, watch them compete in races, bring them to Kindergarten, and so much more!
I was thoroughly obsessed with this entire intricate aspect of Sonic Adventure AND Sonic Adventure 2’s side content as a child; so much so that I’ve been revisiting the chao garden and raising some new chao in my spare time even now! It’s good to indulge in nostalgia every once in a while, I say.

To further dive down memory lane, let’s take a look these sheets individually, and I’ll tell you a little bit about my inspiration and design process for each one!
First up, the Chao Garden:

Here we have each of the neutral-alignment chao in their standard two-tone colors. The only recurring sticker on each of these sheets will be the Heart Fruit near the center, because it’s my personal favorite fruit (it’s just so cute)! But you’ll see a Chao Fruit on the left, which raises all of your chao’s stats when fed, as well as little animals scattered around the sheet. The animals all raise different stats, as well; the sheep raises all stats but specializes in speed and power, the rabbit primarily raises speed, and the seal primarily raises swimming! These are some of the most common animals you’ll find across all of the stages in Sonic Adventure 2, which is why I felt they would be a good pick for the “Neutral” set.
As for the background, I tried to pick a color scheme that is reminiscent of the first Chao Garden available to the player. The gradient looks like the grass and sky pictured below, but I wanted to lighten the colors a bit so that the stickers themselves remained the most vibrant part of the sheet!

You can almost picture yourself in this calm little paradise surrounded by these adorable little goobers, can’t you?
Next up, the Hero Garden:

I wanted to keep the “types” of chao in the same placement throughout all of the sheets - Power sitting on the bottom, Flying in the middle, Speed towards the bottom on the left, and Swim in the upper right - with the top left being your standard, no-particular-stat-alignment chao (Hero, in this case) and the pink one towards the bottom on the right being the illusive Chaos Chao (this one is the “Angel” Chaos Chao)! These chao gain the “hero” alignment when they’re given specific Hero Fruit (the teardrop shaped one on the left), or when they’re primarily cared for by Sonic, Tails, or Knuckles!
The animals featured on this sheet are all the “mythical” small animals; rarer creatures that only appear once or twice on specific stages, often under special conditions. These guys are primarily found during the Hero Story, so maybe that’s why I associate the two!
The Hero Garden has always been my favorite, floating in a sea of fluffy pink clouds with the sky having this gorgeous gradient. I wanted to pay homage to this beautiful skybox for the background of this sticker sheet!

Don’t you want to just take a nap beside the fountain here?
And last but certainly not least, the Dark Garden:

The dark-alignment chao are my ABSOLUTE favorites, which is ironic considering my affinity for the Hero Garden. I just always thought their little angry blue eyes and color schemes were sooo cute - just look at their little spiky “emote balls” floating above their heads! Who are you threatening with that little face, baby? (Oh yeah, did I mention that they emote with those things?)
The animals on THIS sheet are considered the “ghost” type - pretty much the polar opposites of the “mythical” animals, though much like their counterparts they also are rare and only appear once or twice on specific stages, usually during the Dark Story or on the “spooky” stages.
The background here is, you guessed it, inspired by the dark blues and purples of the cartoonishly Tim Burton-esque skies of the Dark Garden.

I put a lot of love into these stickers, so I hope you enjoy them as much as I do making them!

Until next time…
Thank you so much for reading this second ever edition of Bunnalien News! It was a bit of a long one, but I wanted to make up for not sending out a newsletter in March! I figure it’s better for both you and I if I only send you mail when I have substantial updates to share, and to accompany my shop updates. My GOAL is to eventually send one out once a month, but hey, life happens and the inspiration to create isn’t exactly something that can be predicted or consistent or scheduled!
Take care, be kind, stay hydrated, eat a good meal, and I’ll see you all next month!
Always made with love,
Han
